The tone of this painting is a bit somber, although with a few high notes in it. In fact, that mood is what inspired the title. Just as I sometimes enjoy listening to a heavy, mournful piece of orchestral music, I find a melancholic beauty in a gray, overcast day.

Thanks for going through all that paperwork with us! I enjoyed looking through your blog. I really like your landscape paintings. There's no end to beautiful things to look at around here in the gorge and you have captured some of that beauty. Maybe someday I can catch a show of yours and see more.
